Jake was the standout player for NZ at 2007 u17 World Cup in South Korea. His displays against Brazil and England earned him trials at Manchester United and Everton. However, after that things stalled a bit for Jake and it was with the arrival of Olé Director Nate Winkel in 2009 that things changed for him. Winkel arranged a pro contract for him in the US with the Portland Timbers and Jake has not looked back since. He led Timbers u23 team to an undefeated PDL Championship season and looks to be in line to make the move to MLS for 2011.
